The Leaders Digest


Leadership is an essential ingredient in implementing and sustaining change and innovation in public services. Leaders in the public services work to address some of the most complex social problems. Their work is different from leadership in many other settings. The aim is to work for the public good and public value, rather than to make a profit. The context for the work may be challenging because of budgetary constraints, department mergers or restructures, or political instability. Leaders in public services create the conditions and inspire others to act. Research and real life experience helps us understand what supports leadership to grow in public services.

Our Role

CES curates The Leaders Digest, a blog series based on learning from leadership in public services in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Research meets practice in each blog article, which includes reflections from leaders based on their real life experiences, along with learning from research and useful resources. We are interested in feedback about the series, and welcome ideas for contributions.
