Project title: Supporting the Children’s Services Committees Initiative (P002)

Title: Learning from the Pasts to Inform the Future

Background: The Centre for Effective Services (CES) was asked by the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs (OMCYA), part of the Department of Health and Children in Ireland, to assist with, and advise on, the strategic development of Children’s Services Committees (CSCs). The purpose of CSCs is to secure better developmental outcomes for children through more effective integration of existing services and interventions at local level.

The policy context for CSCs is the current national social partnership agreement, Towards 2016. This report provides findings emerging from the initial phase of the Children’s Services Committees in Ireland.

Title: An introductory guide to the key terms and interagency initiatives in use in the Children’s Services Committees in Ireland

Background: This document provides an introduction to the sources and origins of key terms and interagency initiatives in use in the Children’s Services Committees in Ireland. It is not intended to be comprehensive of all terms and initiatives relevant to CSCs at this stage, but rather a starting point which we hope will be added to with suggestions from CSC stakeholders, as the work on CSCs progresses.

Project title: Multi-Agency Initiative

Title: A review of international evidence on interagency working, to inform the development of Children's Services Committees (2011)
Author: June Statham, Thomas Coram Research Unit for the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, via CES.

Background: This review was commissioned to inform the Department of Chidlren and Youth Affairs plans for a national roll out of these committees and their approaches to interagency working. The review was carried out in close collaboration with the Centre for Effective Services.

Title: Effective Community Development Programmes, a review of the international evidence base.

Background: On the 21st of September 2010 CES published Effective Community Development Programmes, a review of the international evidence base. This review tells us about the key principles of effective policy and practice in publicly funded community development programmes.
