The Strategic Innovation in Education (SIE) Initiative in Limerick City
Project Background
This project forms part of the Centre for Effective Services (CES) support and technical assistance to client services. In September 2008, the University of Limerick (UL) established the Strategic Innovation in Education (SIE) in response to the Limerick Regeneration Programme. Since 2009, SIE, supported by The Regeneration Agencies, UL and Atlantic Philanthropies has provided practical support towards co-ordinated outcomes-focused planning with emerging local structures in Limerick including the Limerick Children’s Services Committee (CSC) and the formal education sector. SIE has also been involved in planning and piloting ways of building citizen stakeholding in the city with a particular focus on activation of older people and examination of their needs.
In 2009 CES was asked by SIE to support and advise them on the implementation of their plan of work (primarily relating to Limerick CSC).
