Children’s Research Network for Ireland and Northern Ireland
Project Background
The Centre for Effective Services (CES) has been requested by two research networks in Ireland to assist them with re-launching the existing bodies into one combined network.
The first of the two networks, the Child Health Research Forum (CHRF) established in 1997, was a network of people and agencies with an interest and expertise in the area of children’s research. It was hosted by the Population Health Children and Young People’s Team within the HSE. The second, the Research and Evaluation Consortium on Children and Young people (RECCY), was an academic based forum with membership from the Children’s Research Centre (TCD), the Child and Family Research Centre (NUIG), The Institute of Child Care Research (QUB). This network received initial funding from Atlantic Philanthropies. Acknowledging the overlap in both objectives and membership and limits on resources, a working group with membership from the two networks was established to create one network to fulfil the common purposes of the different fora.
